Where is New Zealand?
New Zealand is located in the South travelguidebook Pacific Ocean, geographically positioned in both the southern and eastern hemispheres, to the southeast of Australia. Auckland is 36degrees 83′ South, 174degrees 65′ East.
New Zealand is one of the first places in the world to see the new day, 12 hours ahead of GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
In summer New Zealand uses ‘daylight saving’, with clocks put forward one hour to GMT+13.
Daylight saving begins on the last Sunday in September and ends on the first Sunday of the following April, when clocks are put back to GMT+12.
Indian passport holders do need a valid New Zealand Visa to travel to New Zealand. Your passport should have a validity of more than 6 months, submit the required documents and you are ready to fly to New Zealand.
New Zealand Dollar is one of the strong currencies prevailing in the world. The exchange rate is on an average $1NZD = INR 50.
All the shops and other merchants accept all major credit and debit cards and it is easy to exchange the currency at any foreign exchange merchant.
Traveller’s Tip: you will be surprised to know that tipping is not mandatory in New Zealand.
Flying to New Zealand:
New Zealand is very well connected with entire world through major Airlines like Singapore Airlines, Malaysian Airlines, Thai Airways, Cathey Pacific etc. However to fly from India, Singapore Airlines is the best option. The usual flying hours is 10 hours from Singapore.
The north of New Zealand is subtropical & the south temperate. The warmest months are December, January and February, and the coldest are June, July and August. In summer, the average maximum temperature ranges between 20-30ºC and in winter between 10-15ºC.
New Zealand is one of the safest travel destinations in the world, with a low crime rate, few endemic diseases and a first-class healthcare and accident compensation system. However any traveler follow the same precautions with your personal safety and possessions as you would in any other country, or at home.
